Defining the term CPA in Online Marketing
(In case you were wondering No it doesn’t stand for certified public accountant)
The term CPA (”Cost per Action” or “Cost per Acquisition”) in Internet Marketing is an acronym used to define an online marketing payment model which requires that a user performs an actual action such as a registration or sale before you as an online marketer can be eligible for earnings.
Defining the Term PPC and CPC in Online Marketing
The Term PPC (Pay per Click) in the Online Marketing industry is another acronym that is commonly used, Marketingterms.com refers to PPC as an “Online advertising payment model in which payment is based solely on qualifying click-throughs”. What does this actually mean?
It depends which side of the bar you’re standing on. If you are an advertiser this means that you would use CPC “Cost Per Click” and you would use a program like Google Adwords to create an advertiser campaign where you would set your cost per click - meaning that you will set how much you will pay the webmasters using Google Adsense in your particular niche or market for one click of keywords related to your product.
If you are using PPC It means that if you as an Online Marketer are running a program like Chitika, Adsense, Kontera or any similar program you will be paid for the actual “clicks” that the users execute, for instance, if a click is worth $10.00 and you have a web page up on a particular topic, and while one of your guest are browsing your sites they happen to click on an AD related to the topic of your web page, and this the AD program is paying $10.00 per click then you just earned $10.00 just for peaking that persons interest in that particular AD.
These are just basic definitions written especially for those new Online Marketers that are still trying to figure out what the terms above stand for. I hope you learned something today, and keep those terms in mind because its only a matter of time before you run into them again.
