How to Get Your Comments Approved on Oth...

Commenting on other blogs can have a very positive impact on your search engine ranking and on the traffic you’re getting to your sites.  It’s important that you keep in mind that most bloggers moderate the comments left on their articles so you want to make sure that you’re not coming off as a spammer.

The bullet points below will help you to get your comments approved on other blogs.

Tips for getting your Comments Approved on Other Blogs

  • Don’t comment if you have not read the article, it’s important that all of your comments relate to the topic being discussed. If you don’t make sure that your comments are consistent with the topic at hand then you can expect your comment to end up in the spam section of the blog admin page.
  • Avoid many Links. Blogs offer you the opportunity to add a comment and include a link back to the site of your choice. There is no need to fill the comment body with a number of links unless it’s necessary. You’re given an opportunity to leave one link in the comment form so make sure that you leave a keyword rich link and you will be fine.
  • Leave some value. What’s the point of commenting if your not going to leave something of value, perhaps its your opinion on the article at hand or a question pertaining to the topic. Avoid posting one word or one line comments.

It would be probably be a good idea to find 10 to 20 high traffic blogs within your market or niche - make sure to follow that bloggers work and interact with him or her via the comments section of the blog. If you become an avid supporter you will be noticed by the blogger and perhaps this may open an opportunity for future ventures with the blogs you’re supporting.

How to make the best of Sponsored Tweets...

The idea behind sponsored tweets is getting your message, service or product in front of a large number of twitter users and in order to be successful in choosing the best sponsor it’s a good idea to understand the metrics and stats behind those sponsors. You don’t want to waste money by purchasing a sponsored tweet to find out that the reach and other factors weren’t all that you expected it to be.

Are they Active?

It’s also a good idea to learn what their follower growth rate is because this will help you to determine how active this sponsor is within the twitterverse. A consistent and strong growth rate means that this tweep is pretty active, regardless of the actual follower quantity. If the follower growth rate doesn’t convince you of how active this tweep may be then perhaps having a graph that displays the day to day interaction this tweep is having would be a good indication in determining your purchase.

Tell me who your friends with and I’ll tell you who you are

Another factor to consider is the circle of tweeps that the sponsor interacts with because this will help you to understand the relationships he’s built. It will help you to understand the social status of this twitter sponsor in addition to help you determine his or her credibility. Perhaps understanding this can also help you to find another sponsor that may be offering a lower price to tweet but is still within the target market you’re trying to reach.

Are your sponsors CelebriTwees?

It’s probably a good idea to purchase a tweet from celebritweeps because they will probably have a larger following and automatically a larger reach. Of course if your targeting the blogger audience, you’re not going to pay for a playboy bunny to tweet an offer about making money blogging because their followers are not the audience you’re trying to reach.

How do you determine if someone is a celebritwee?

There are several factors. One would be the most obvious which is the number of followers this particular twitter user has. It’s also good to note that there are a lot of robot made accounts or accounts not really managed by real users that have hundreds to thousands and thousands of followers so this concept or idea is not necessarily the strongest deciding factor on a user being a celebrity twitter user. The strongest point in figuring out the celebrity status of a twitter user is figuring out how many mentions he or she  gets on a particular day - if you notice this number to be pretty high, then you can guess that people are trying to get their attention and this is a clear sign of celeb status. Sometimes the mentions may be a re-tweet so it’s a good idea to learn how to figure out which of these mentions are unique and which are not.

How active are the followers?

It’s pretty clear by now that Twitter has thousands of inactive accounts, and the last thing an advertiser wants is to purchase a $300.00 tweet to find that the followers or most of those sponsors followers are inactive and the tweet will not have the reach or effect the advertiser is hoping for. How do you determine the follower activity, keep on reading and I’ll give you the answer soon.

How many of those followers are online at a particular time?

This is particularly great because if you find a pattern of online activity by the followers of your sponsor you can have a better idea of when would be the best time to broadcast that tweet. Obviously the more twitter users are online for the sponsors accounts at a particular time, then the better your reach. eh?

Wouldn’t it be great if all of the above can be found in one service? in marketing and advertising stats and metrics are extremely important in determining the value of the service being provided. If the above are points you’re concerned about or points that you agree are important to consider in the purchase of a sponsored tweet then let me present to you a service called “TwitterAnalyzer”.

I recently found it while Google’ing twitter analytics and I find it to be extremely useful, there are other services that provide similar stats but i believe TwitterAnalyzer to be the most complete and strongest of the twitnalytics services out there.

Below I’ve listed a few of the main features they offer:

  • How many followers are online right now, in real time? Probably think it can’t be done? Wrong, they have it.
  • How many twitter users or readers have seen your message? Very important, no? Guess what they have it.
  • Curious to know the tweet habits of your prospect sponsor? Of course and guess what they have it.
  • Wondering how many retweets this sponsor has on average? Yep and they have it.
  • You’re probably curious to learn of the follower growth rate, they have it.
  • How popular is the sponsor? get it at twitter analyzer.
  • What are the sponsors followers doing?

Hope you make the best of this service because with the evolution of twitter, it’s best we learn of services to support our twitter usage.

10 Networking tips to Consider...

Networking plays an important role in the lives of anyone who is interested in developing relationships or building a following in a particular niche or market.  If your not paying close attention to the 10 tips below then you need to re-consider your whole networking strategies.

1. What do you do?

You need to have a very clear understanding of what you represent. What do you do? Why do you do it? for whom do you do it? These are questions you should be able to answer on command. If you’re serious about your business, blog, service then you will be confident in getting that message across.

2. What are your networking goals?

This is a vital question you need to ask yourself in regards to the idea of building your networking relationships. Make sure that once you’ve established that goal you pick the right places to build that relationship. If you visit an event that the National Rifle Association is hosting, you could probably guess that your not going to find who you’re looking for if your product, blog, or idea relates to anti-gun laws.

3. How are you coming off to people?

In Networking it’s important to remember, the key phrase, networking. - it’s a period where you have to demonstrate a genuine attitude. It’s a moment where you’re hoping to build a relationship with someone and the only way to accomplish this is by establishing trust between you and that person. It’s important that you completely avoid selling to them. The best way to find good partners, sponsors or individuals who will have a positive impact on your business, blog, idea, service or what not is to talk. You must engage them in conversation and if there is something worth networking about, it should come up naturally as the convo evolves.

4. Where are you going?

Visit networking groups within your niche and scan the room, how are the members of this group interacting with one another. Do you notice synergy? support among them? How’s the group’s overall attitude? Do you get a sense that the person hosting the event is a leader or authority within that particular niche? is the leader setting an example? These are all signs you need to pay close attention to when considering joining any type of niche networking groups.

5. Are you hiding?

It’s important that you stay visible to the audience or peers you’re trying to reach. If you’re staying indoors or just visiting networking parties and staying in the background you will probably go unnoticed. This is a moment to interact and show your face. Smile, talk, have a drink (coke, alcohol, water, whatever!) just have a drink. This makes folks feel like your partaking in the event and are having a good time. If your having a good time, you’re probably approachable and becoming approachable may be what breaks or makes you meeting your goal.

6. Are you asking questions?

if so what kind? It’s important that you ask questions in any networking event that you take part in. The best questions are open ended questions like “where are you from?” or “how do you like this place?”. Open ended questions are important because these types of questions are the questions that engage the two way conversation you are looking for. They tell the person on the other end that you’re interested in hearing what they have to say. If you remember anything at all make sure to Avoid questions that can be answered with a yes, no or maybe.

7. What do you really know?

Become an authority in your niche. When you become a knowledgeable person in your target market people tend to remember you. They will come to you for suggestions, ideas, and sometimes they may even bring you a larger audience.

8. Are you prepared for anything?

Prepare and show confidence! It’s important that before visiting any networking event you prepare yourself to answer questions that may come up in regards to why you are there. There are those that will ask you straight out: Hi, “How may I help you?” and you need to be able to strongly articulate an answer. Most folks have no immediate answer and unfortunately will give people the idea they don’t need to be interested in what you have to say.

9. Are you acting on who’s being recommended?

It’s important that if someone is recommended to you, that you follow through. When people recommend someone they will probably mention to the person that they have recommended them for XYZ. you can be sure that this will come up again in conversation and if the person that was recommended says that you have not reached out, this will reflect on you. And you will appear as an irresponsible individual.

10. What are you doing after you leave?

It’s important that you call the folks you meet, otherwise what’s the point of going to the event in the first place. Call them, communicate with them and express that you had a good time and that you enjoyed meeting them. Mention that you would like to get together for the sake of sharing ideas or to talk of whatever it is that you were there for. Don’t be Many of times this is the main issue with net-workers, they forget to follow up and eventually are forgotten.

How to use Twitter to get Customers ...

Twitter is believed to be a waste of time for The Average Joe or average user but most folks including me use it for business and in return we benefit from our use of this service. It’s not that difficult to figure twitter out if your interest lies beyond the idea of telling your friends what you’re up to every minute of the day.

Since the twitter launch, I’ve tried my best to play around with the service in every possible way, from keeping in touch with my friends, adver-tweeting to finding followers within my market and more. In this test mode I’ve learned that twitter can be used in business in more than one way. In this blog entry I’ll show you guys how freelancers, writers, web designers, and marketers are using twitter to gain business and make themselves some good money for their services.

Freelancers, Consultants, writers & Business’s need Twitter

Twitter Helps you to find customers, make that first sale and even improve your current sales.

What should I keep in mind when creating my twitter account?

When creating websites companies, freelancers, web designers and webmasters keep in mind that the domain name is very important for search engine optimization purposes. This means they want to please the search engines by choosing a domain name that is somewhat relevant to their market or business.

This “relevant name concept” is also important to remember when creating your twitter account. I suggest that you choose a username that says something about you or your business (like your business name) or something that pertains to the market (like bloggingtips, domesticabuseplan, writerstips, financialnuggets etc..).

Twitter Sign Up Page

Twitter Sign Up Page

I already have a twitter username, can I change it?

If you’ve already created your account and you don’t want to start all over, not too worry. Unlike the other social networks twitter allows you to change your username without impacting your tweets, followers, direct messages or replies. If this is you, then make sure to notify your followers or friends of the change so they don’t continue to tweet or direct message you at a twitter account that is no longer existent.

I’ve chosen the username, what now?

You’ve already started your twitter road trip by creating your account and choosing a name that is relevant to your market. Now that you’ve done this you are almost done with the set up stages. Make sure that you complete all of the required forms where you are asked your name, web address, location and online bio. This is your main selling point, because this is where your followers get to know you.

Twitter Form Fields

Twitter Form Fields

Some bloggers or twitter users decide to create a unique page on their websites that is specific to twitter traffic. Meaning that whomever clicks on the twitter bio link will end up on a page that says something like:

“Hi, you’re here because you clicked on my twitter bio link.
Here is a bit more information on who I am and what I do”.

This is where you need to include all of your credentials, bio, background, or anything you may deem important to your business or audience. If you have them follow a link to your blog home page, they may be somewhat lost and

I filled the forms, chose a good username now what?

Now you sit back and wait for the customers to roll in. {WRONG!!!!} You’re not done yet, now that you’ve done the above, you have to start following other twitter users. Twitter will typically recommend some accounts to follow upon sign up but I personally do not like doing this because these accounts are not targeted towards your niche or market, so it’s kind of useless traffic (in a sense).

When you’re ready to start following users, you need to use the “Twitter Search Engine” to find the users that you’re interested in. If you’re into web design, then type #web #design into the search engine box and scroll down through the results you get back.

Twitter Search Results Screen Shot

Twitter Search Results Screen Shot

After you scroll down, you need to profile these users by reading what they tweeted about in regards to web design then follow the ones you think will be beneficial to your twitter usage. These are your potential customers, business partners or prospects.

Turning Tweeters into Customers

When I first signed up to twitter, I was playing around with the service and before I understood it’s value I figured that it would be a waste of my time. I thought to myself  “I don’t have time to tweet about where I am every minute of the day” (does this sound familiar?).

I moved on, and continued to spend my time writing for my blog. It was not until one day that I thought of providing advertising services via Trucker Hats in New York City that I realized what twitter could do. I wrote an article for the blog and titled it “Want to Reach a New York audience, for free?”. At the time I had the Twitter Tools plugin installed, therefore it automatically tweeted the title of the article to all of my twitter followers. (This is the key)

This is when I truly realized the twitter potential as one of of my follwers thought it was a cool idea and Retweet’d the link to all of their followers, his followers retweet’d to their followers and before I knew it the idea was virally spreading through twitter. A few weeks later I started receiving daily shipments of Trucker Hats to my front door for my Trucker Hat Tuesdays Marketing Events.

This is just one of the many ways to gain customers on twitter, you can also gain customers as twitter users visit your profiles and follow the link to the special page you will create on your sites or blogs.

Networking and Twitter

I’m into blogging and online marketing, this is my niche and twitter has helped me in the networking stages of my business. Twitter grants you the opportunity of direct messaging other twitter accounts and if you’re providing something of value this tool lends you the opportunity of contacting those top profile tweeters within your niche or market allowing you the opportunity of making a positive impact ony our business.

If you got something good to offer or say, this is the way and it’s the start of a great networking relationship.

How to use Colleges to Build your Online...

At the end of the day getting to a successful ground in blogging and in business is really about falling and getting up. Most of you guys entertain many unnecessary questions when the question you should really be asking yourself is:

“What have I been doing to move my blogging to the next level?”

In blogging you need to remember that if you’re doing it for business you need to treat it like a business and not a hobby. Sometimes that requires you taking time to research what’s already worked for many of the successful businesses out there and figure out what those concepts are and how you can implement and execute them within your blog.

Volunteering Your Blog for a Case Study is just one of those ideas that may help you in moving your blog business to the next level. You will learn alot about your own market (Blogs) and will help in getting great ideas for the future.

Ever heard of case studies? In case you haven’t..

“A case study is one of several ways of doing research whether it is social science related or even socially related. It is an intensive study of a single group, incident, or community.Other ways include experiments, surveys, or analysis of archival information.”   source: (wikipedia)

Why is your blog eligible for a case study?

Truth is that although you’ve been blogging for a while, most people don’t yet understand the true value and purpose behind this idea. How many online business sites have you been too without a blog? Most of the exec’s and management teams have no clue about this and have yet to employ these marketing strategies to build their online presence. As of last year only 15% of fortune 500 companies had blogs, I’m sure that number has increased slightly but not significantly, therefore there is still room for many blogs to be featured on case studies.

How would you present your blog as a case study?

When making any type of presentations it’s important that you remember that you have to demonstrate why there is a need for whatever you are trying to push. There needs to be a problem that the readers of your case study can help solve. The following statistical information will help you to get your foot in the door in this specific “Blog as a case Study” scenario.

Research tells us that:

” One in three online Americans now read blogs at least once a month, while 18% comment on them. Blog readers as a group grew by nearly 50% over this past year.” (Quote from the Forrester Research: October 20, 2008)

“Research also tells us that as of last year: Only 15% of Fortune 500 companies had blogs.” (Quote from Burson-Marsteller: July 22, 2008)

When recommending you’re blog to a university or college or any educational entity for that matter, it’s important to keep these statistical numbers in mind. It’s vital that you do so because this will help you to demonstrate how the concept of blogging is still misunderstood (the problem).  Explaining this will  hopefully give you the winning argument. It’s important to keep in mind that your main goal in pitching this as a case study is to show the folks in charge why this method would be more beneficial, then research out of a text book.

The benefit of using a case study:

It’s free marketing, the students or educators that read the case study will probably become part of your audience, and if they become truly interested in this concept of blogging they can become subscribers and help to spread the word about your blog and your ideas.

If you’re goal is to have success in any field, industry, niche or market you have to realize that thinking out of the box and doing the non-conventional will be what sets you apart from the next blogger or business. The moment you have personally set yourself apart you have already taken a step in the right direction towards achieving your goals.

What non-convetional steps have you taken to move your business one step further towards your goal?

How to Know your Readers, 6 tips to cons...

You’re probably frustrated and tired of trying everything to make your readers do what you want them to do; it’s simple and difficult at the same time but you can actually make it happen by knowing who they are and applying some simple techniques that the top bloggers/companies have used time and time again. You are no different and you can make this happen for yourself.

Just like you know that everything in life has a purpose or principle you have to admit that this rule also applies to the web. When doing business online you have to understand many of the avenues that surround a successful online business and what I hope you learn from this article is how to you can actually make this happen on your own sites.

Understanding who is reading your work is the main key in converting; which is another way of saying that by knowing who’s reading you can get your desired result, which can range from buying, subscribing and even clicking on the advertisements on your blog.

This is what I do on a regular basis to understand my readers:

1. Analyzing your comments/messages:

I write my blog entries and then I review the feedback that you guys leave behind in the form of comments or e-mails. This is the easiest way because you’re telling me exactly what you want and all I have to do is provide it to you. In most cases you guys ask questions, If I know the answers I’ll reply to your comments. If I don’t reply to the comments themselves I write them down and add it as a new entry to the blog.

2.Reviewing and Analyzing my most popular articles:

I’ll take some time to browse the most popular articles on this blog in addition to other blogs and forums within this market or somewhat related to it. I then review what the most popular articles and why you guys liked it, What comments you are leaving there and if I find something worth writing about here from another blog and it’s appropriate I’ll try to address those things on this blog in the hopes you guys respond positively here as well.

3.Trend and Buzz Research

I Look at the trends on Google, Twitter, Digg and other social media sites and follow the keywords that surround my market. When I see other bloggers talking about I study the response and I write about it as well. It happens all the time in fashion with much success. Tommy Hilfiger launches a shirt that turns out to be a best seller and before you know it; there is a new delivery on the floor by another designer company that mirrors the successful product Tommy launched…and the target customer responds well. It’s all about replicating the success of others as long as you can add your own twist, & views on it. There is much to learn from this.

4.Feed Stats

I’ve set up “Aweber” to broadcast my articles to folks that have subscribed to my feed - Every time I add an entry to any of my blogs and “Aweber” shoots out the e-mail with the articles I take a look at how many folks clicked, opened or complained. When I look at the titles, or topics of that particular broadcast it helps me to figure out what folks want and what they don’t want. It’s all pattern of behavior so try not to repeat the topics that you got lots of complaints about and those that folks did not really care to click on.

5.Hit Counters Statistics

I have a few “Hit Counter” statistic scripts installed on all of my blogs. Normally I take a look at the reports and see how many folks are unique visitors versus how many folks are returning visitors. How they arrived? this is important because if you notice that folks are getting there via search engines you can take a look at the titles of those post that attracted them to follow the link to your site and it helps you to get an idea of what topics your readers are attracted to.

Taking a look at your visitor path helps me to determine what other topics you are interested in, or where your going within the blog. When installing these scripts on your own blogs it’s important that you always pay close attention to the entry pages, the exit pages, and the overall path that your own visitors will follow.

Hit counters also help you to get a better idea of demographics-  they tell me whether my main audience is male, female, among other important data that helps me to determine who my users are. (Google Analytics does a great job at this and I personally also use StatCounter - it’s been great to me)

6.Feed Subscription Rates

I take a look at my subscribers sign up rate, if the numbers are going up then it’s obvious I’m doing a pretty good job. When I realize that my subscribers rate is going down I take a look at all of the above and figure out how I can improve.

Learning about your own readers is not an overnight process and you will have to get to know them over time because most of  theses primary methods are based on reactions to your entries. Results will always vary and its not always going to be clear cut - but if you follow the suggestions I’m giving you, then you will realize that knowing your readers will give you an advantage in the blogging business.

Writing Tips for your Blog...

If you have no people skills, then you have no blogging skill - the truth is that just as public speakers addresses an audience as a writer you will be doing the same thing. There are some core principles that are important to know when writing a blog; at least if you care about how your perceived within your niche.

What’s important in writing for your blog?

One of the most important things to know is the need of your audience and match your writing content to their needs. It’s important that you know your material, however,if you don’t; then make sure to at least study and research until your pretty much well taught in the message your trying to convey to your readers.

Make sure your writing is captivating to your audience, don’t be boring - make it interesting. It’s a blog not a novel. You can express yourself in a fun way as long as ultimately your writing conveys a valuable message or teaches your readers something.

Practice writing, proof read, read it out-loud and see how it sounds. It does not have to be perfect just interesting - Ask yourself if you would be interested in reading this blog if you were in the readers role.

Write with conviction and convey that you really believe in what you are saying - its the best way to persuade your audience effectively. Pay attention to the questions that are left as comments and respond to the reaction to your article. - If you continue to write and you notice that there is no interaction and your not leaving a positive impact on your audience then you should probably take a moment to change your strategy.

Humor is also an important part of writing for your blog, whenever its appropriate and possible within your article add a bit of humor, lighten the readers mood and keep them interested through your entire post. Remember that an interesting post will get your audiences attention from beginning to end but a boring novel type article will be too much for your readers to endure.

In writing your blog remember you need to know when to stop - if you go on and on you will probably bore your readers with repetitious or unnecessary words. Its important to end your post with an interesting remark or punch line - this will leave your readers with a good impression and a sense that they actually accomplished something by reading your work…

Most importantly, remember to thank your readers for their time and move on to your next post.

Digg...

What is Digg?

It’s not a club or a bar although its a catchy name for one.
Digg is actually a social bookmarking site for News or better yet content. - Digg helps its users to find content of their interest and allows them to promote or spread the word of content they “dugg” or “bury”stuff they disliked or dont consider newsworthy.

How does Digg work?

It’s not that difficult, once you get the hang of social bookmarking - folks submit article links to the digg database in addition to a brief description of what the article is about - they then categorize the article within categories provided by digg and submit them for the world to view and vote on.

The great thing about “Digg” is that it can generate some major traffic to your site if you have some good quality content - how? it’s easy. Digg allows its users to vote on articles submitted to their site and the more folks that “Digg” your story the higher your ranking in the “Upcoming Articles” page - if you’ve written something that’s been submitted to Digg and its good, then you can appear on the main page of the site as one of the “Popular Articles” - The Digg home page gets “lots” of traffic so you can imagine the benefit of getting a bit of that flow of users to your site.

It’s not recommended for blog publishers to abuse the Digg system because it’s one of those sites that can easily ban you if they find that you’ve broken the terms and if you’ve been banned then you’re missing out on all of the SEO benefits that this social bookmarking site can bring to you as its probably the most popular social news bookmarking site on the net.

Why should you be actively using Digg?

It’s the most, one of the most popular social news bookmarking sites on the web.
Assuming your writing worthy articles then Digg can drive great traffic to your site as it moves to the main page.
It’s a great research tool as it allows you to look at the newest trends, topics, the buzz in addition to general content.
It can help you to build relationships with other bloggers by sharing submits and commenting on each others submissions.

Digg can be indexed very quickly for chosen keywords therefore choose your titles wisely and let Digg be indexed while your site gets indexed.

How Digg personally helped me?

When I started blogging I really paid no attention to the whole social bookmarking fad - I heard and thought that writing was enough but as I continued to learn and read I figured that Digg just like the other social bookmarking sites was vital in driving traffic to my site…

I added a social bookmarking plugin for wordpress and gave my readers the opportunity of submitting my post to digg and other sites like it - and before I knew it the Digg Submission was being indexed by the search engines before the actual article was indexed - this was great because if you choose your keywords and article titles wisely you can easily land on the first 3 pages of the search engine results before you even know it.

In addition here are a few tips on “How to use Digg” successfully:

1. Digg the Original Article
Users on Digg are very picky on how the site is viewed and how it’s used. Make sure to submit the original article and something that’s worth digging. - Digg hates duplicate stories.

2. Do not Digg your own stuff
There is a thing called Digg ethics and one of the most important rule of Digg Etiquette is to avoid submitting your own articles. If you wish to submit them because there are great benefits to doing so, you can recommend the story to your friends or readers and ask them to submit it to Digg if they liked the content.

3. Digg More than one article

Digg is famous and notorious towards spammers so make sure that when your friends are digging your articles that you also recommend that they Digg others content as well so that Digg does not categorize them as spammers - Digg likes to keep track of what you digg and if you digg one single item or one single site all of the time they will more than likely penalize you for it.

4. Just like you do when you write your articles, use good titles and descriptions.
When you’re digging your articles make sure to give it a good title and description - I typically digg it with the title of the post that I am digging or I research the keywords that I feel would most benefit this article so that Digg can rank high for it and therefore bring more exposure to that particular submission.

Hope you liked this article and if you did, go ahead and give it a digg! :-)
