Are you an average blogger?
I hope not because if you consider yourself one of them odds are that you’re also filled with excuses that are limiting your success. Average bloggers make constant excuses for not executing their ideas and force themselves to believe that their excuses are valid reasons for not moving forward. There are those of you guys (average bloggers) that take time to actually justify your lack of action and in all honesty, this is totally unacceptable and not so smart.
I’ve heard a ton of excuses that have held bloggers back from huge opportunities and here’s just a few of them:
- why would anyone want to read my blog?
- I don’t feel like networking with bloggers, it’s sort of pointless since no one answers my e-mails.
- I probably shouldn’t reach out right now, I’m not ready and don’t want to seem to desperate.
- What would other bloggers think of me, I need more time to think up this article.
- Why should I go to conferences?, I’m not very social and I hate those places.
- I’m real tired to blog right now, the house was a mess and went to bed real late.
- The market is saturated, I have no chance to succeed.
Most of you guys have used the excuses above at one point or another during your blogging journey but you have to remember that you also created these “reasons” to shelter yourself from rejection and to avoid having to leave your comfort zone. This is a mistake because it’s sabotaging your success and your chances of moving forward.
Every reason most average bloggers have sets them back from success, the key point is to act, execute and make it happen. It’s up to you to develop those networking relationships you’re aiming for. No one else will do this for you.
These are the reasons why you should step out of your average blogger patterns:
Folks want to read your blog because as a new blogger you may offer a new point of view.
If you’re e-mailing bloggers and you’re not getting a response, that’s okay! - Remember these folks are extremely busy working on their own blogs, building and working on their own relationships with others, they are working on product launches and leveling out the success they have.
Nothing is forever and nothing is promised without continued work. It’s best to consider that positive idea versus the idea that you’re being ignored. If you don’t get the response you’re expecting in the timely manner then shoot an e-mail to the next blogger of your choice. Statistics promises you that at least one of them will eventually react and reply assuming you’re being proactive in your networking tasks.
I’ll tell you from personal experience, that this particular excuse is one to get out of. You will always feel like you’re not ready and this will only prolong the success that you could have. If you’re not 100% ready, then present the idea to those you want to partner with. Ideas sell like crazy too.
You should care about what your peers think of you because you may want to collaborate them in the future, but you have to remember that your responsibility is to your readers not your fellow bloggers. Remember that as of now they are your competition. (keep things amicable & respectful with your peers but remember you’re not writing for them)
Conferences are vehicles of knowledge, when you’re absent at conferences within your markets you’re missing out huge! - Conferences tend to offer the most updated info within you’re niche. It’s an opportunity to meet others within your markets, both readers, peers and prospects. If you have the means to afford it then Missing a conference is a big mistake.
How many times have you woken up at the crack of dawn to get to work on time? you get there on time and you put in the extra hours that your supervisor requested that you take. This dedication is admirable, but why cant you do the same for your business. Remember that your blog is your business and you need to treat it as if it was your job. Imagine that the wordpress platform is your supervisor and they are expecting you to complete that report ASAP or you’re fired.
Market Saturation? are you kidding me! this is the funniest and craziest excuse of them all. Remember that there is always more than one road to get to the place you want. Technology is always evolving and I personally feel that the market will never be too saturated. You have to find your angle. Think about what’s new in the industry, do you have a story to tell and how can you incorporate that story into your blogging career? Start to brainstorm about fighting this saturation concept. Blogs are built one reader at a time, so do the best you can and forget about blog saturation.
If this entry gives you anything I hope it helps you to understand that you need to create your own opportunities and ideas! Avoid the pattern of waiting for folks to come to you, get up from your seat and start finding them (figuratively speaking of course).
What blog excuses have you heard or have you used in the past, it’d be interest to hear them out and how you overcame or planning to overcome - share them in the comments with me and the readers of this blog……thanks in advance.
