Whats your Blog Posting Frequency?
Who cares? because What Works for you Wont Work for me.
Howdy folks! for the last 24 hours I’ve had something on my mind that’s been bothering me - it’s regarding a few articles on some blogs I frequent regarding what should be the standard blog posting frequency and how you should go about posting on your blog if you want to achieve a decent level of success. As far as I know there is no standard rule. I have yet to hear of anyone getting penalized for posting multiple articles to their blogs in one day.
if you know Google then you know Google loves fresh content so one would assume that if your posting articles that make sense to you and your readers then your not doing anything wrong. I wont accept the idea that I’m actually going to be hurt as far as ranking is concerned for posting the very thing that Google lives for. I want to be bit more open minded with the whole concept of post frequency penalty and I’ll try to dig deep into this mindset and in order to be fair and do this the right way I’ll ask myself the following questions.
What are the Pro’s of posting frequently?
What are the Con’s of Posting Frequently?
If you notice I was able to come up with more pro’s then con’s and the only con that I actually agree with is the first one on the list. There is a slim possibility that your subscribers may become overwhelmed with too many RSS e-mail updates from your blog so in the event this is your concern I suggest doing what Jeremy from Shoemoney does - send out a monthly update on all of your most important post for the current month.
If you do this, then your subscribers will be hit with 10 off the hook articles that will be worth their next hour. The concept and lesson to be learned from this post is: What works for me wont work for you.
If posting 3 articles a day has worked for me, it does not mean that its right or wrong - you may fail if you do the same as I or you may even do better than I have in my blogging history. If you look at John Chow, he publishes at least 2 articles in one day while I know other successful bloggers that only post once a day and have achieved the same level of success.
Stop thinking about the very reason your reading this post; go with your own flow, stop focusing on what works for the other guy and figure out what works for you and if you find it - be consistent with your own frequency.
What works for you? and how many times a day do you post?

I’m a relative “newbie” However I’ve been working closely with Colin “Google” McDougall one of the best organic SEO experts anywhere and what I’ve noticed is that it’s not really about how often you post really. I mean there might be something to the “Annoying” argument but if what your after is to keep in touch with these people and eventually sell them something then you want to be in front of them on pretty regular basis. What you really want to do, I think, is have some good quality relevant content. bring something to the party as it were. If that’s the case I don’t think people are going to mind hearing from you.
I have been currently posting once a day. However I agree, If I need to post twice a day great. If I take a couple of days off because I have nothing relevant to say, so be it. It’s all about the conversation!
So, The real question is how many conversations have you taken part in today? Have you brought anything good to those conversations?
