How to make a blog? If you’re starting a new blog and you don’t want to purchase your own domain and hosting or don’t have the time to setup all the software and scripts I would recommend that you visit any of the following sites which gives you the option of setting up your own blog on their platforms for free.
* TypeAd
* Blogger
* Wordpress
* LiveJournal
If you want to host your own blog on your own domain then I would also recommend that you install the wordpress blogging platform - its one of the most popular and most effective one as they have hundreds of tools and plugins that will help you to improve your search engine ranks.
Now to the meat and potatoes
Since you just launched your blog, you just spent the last hour writing your first post and now you’re asking yourself “How do I get folks to actually read this stuff?” I started a few blogs in the past and some flopped while some are very successful driving massive amounts of traffic on a daily basis and I wanted to share some of the things I did to build some of my blogs to the level of success they have achieved today.
When you write; write quality!
If you write boring crap then you can be sure it will be boring to your readers so when you write make sure you write stuff that will keep your readers coming back - ensure that you are regularly updating your blog with fresh content. Not only will your readers appreciate this but so will the search engines. These search engine bots love fresh content so as you update your blogs with fresh content, you can expect these bots to visit you more frequently.
Participate in Forums and Blog Related Sites
Its important that you join those forums within your niche - go to google.com and type your “Niche Name Forum” make sure you replace “Niche Name” with the title of your niche or market - when you find the top 3 forums I would suggest that you check to see how active they are and once you determine how active these sites are you should decide if you are going to join - if you do join make sure to participate in active discussions related to your niche and include a link to your blog in the signature area of your profile so that everytime you submit a post you leave a back link to your blog.
Its always a good idea to talk to other bloggers within your niche, ask for their opinions and make friends - if they have been doing this for a while I would suggest that you take their advice to heart and apply it as soon as possible.
Choose your Topic Titles Carefully
Its important that you always choose the right topics titles - I would recommend using a service like “pagerank.net” once you browse their site find an SEO tool they have titled “high paying keywords” and once you find some decent high paying keywords use the Google Adwords Keyword tool to determine what the competition is - if it has low competition then use this title for your blog psot. The idea is to keep in mind what internet users within your niche are searching for before naming your post.
If you want another medium for topic title ideas I would recommend that you look into “Word Tracker” as they publish a report of the post popular searches.
Blogging Commenting
Read, Read, Read - take the time to follow some other blogs and read and analyze their blogs - then determine what aspect of a successful blog you can apply to yours - you should also make sure that you are commenting on their post by leaving some valueable feedback while leaving a backlink to your sites.
While you are waiting for the traffic to come, just enjoy blogging. You’ll be improving your writing in the process.
Eventually you’ll build a network of not just readers, but friends and loyal supporters. Blogging is not just about marketing; it’s about creating lasting relationships.
